Mark Washo
President and General Manager, Washington Freedom
Mark is a 18 year veteran of the sports business industry. Mark is now the President and General Manager of the Washington Freedom of the Women's Professional Soccer League. Prior to joining the Freedom as the teams President/GM, Mark ran his own Professional Ticket Sales Consulting firm MMW Marketing Sports and Entertainment. He also became a full time adjunct Professor with Sports Management Worldwide (smww.com). Prior to running his own company, Mark was the Executive Vice President of the Chicago Fire Soccer Club (MLS), where he oversaw ticket sales, ticket operations, customer service, marketing, community relations and public relations for the club. Prior to joining the Chicago Fire, Mark was the Senior Vice President of the New York-New Jersey MetroStars (now the New York Red Bulls). Mark joined the MetroStars after spending the previous five seasons with D.C. United as the team's Senior Director of Ticket Sales.
Mark has seen success in every sports franchise that he has worked for. After a small stint working in insurance and the rental car business, Mark decided his passion was sports. He started with Buffalo Bison's Baseball and then went to the NBA's Washington Bullets (Wizards) and worked his way up to Executive Vice President of a Major League Soccer team. Having experienced the success and rewards to working in an industry he loved, Mark published "Break Into Sports Through Ticket Sales." Mark currently serves on the board of DC Scores America, and actively supports many other local non profits.
